Unseasonably cool weather when the vines were in flower impaired pollination, leading to a reduced number of berries in the bunches. The rest of the growing season, however, was excellent so that the vines could easily ripen their modest crops and produce beautifully mature fruit that was in optimal condition when picked.

ChardonnayCool breezy weather in late spring and early summer impaired the pollination of the grape flowers and this resulted in a relatively small crop of chardonnay grapes forming on the vines. The rest of the summer was excellent and the autumn was warm and dry. The grapes were thus beautifully ripe and they were able to be picked in optimal condition.

Coolish weather over the flowering period of the vines impaired pollination, which reduced the size of the overall crop. The rest of that season, however, was excellent. The hand harvested fruit was beautifully ripe and in optimal condition when picked. The fruit came from gentle north facing clay slopes in Marlborough’s Brancott Valley.

TEHAUAlthough the weather was fine over the flowering period of the vines, there were frequent, blustery winds. These impaired pollination and reduced the “set” so that there was a small crop. The rest of the season, however, was excellent and we were able to harvest beautifully ripened grapes.
Pinot Noir 2007
Tags: 2007 | Current releases | Main Divide Pinot Noir Tasting NotesCool weather in late spring, during the flowering period of the vines, interfered with pollination and lead to a natural reduction in the crop level. In spite of this we rigorously hand thinned and removed any fruit which was lagging behind the rest when the grapes were ripening. Hence we reduced our crop even further. The summer and autumn were excellent and we were able to pick grapes that were perfectly physiologically ripe.
Riesling 2007

Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Tags: 2007 | Archive | Main Divide Sauvignon Blanc Tasting notesCool weather over the flowering period in the spring meant that fertilization was slowed and hence the crop of grapes was substantially reduced. This has favoured extra concentration in the resulting wine. The summer weather which followed, however, was excellent, and the autumn warm and dry, enabling us to harvest optimally ripened, healthy fruit...
